About the Weekend

No matter how long you’ve been married, it’s easy for everyday life to crowd out time for the two of you. This weekend is a chance to slow down, laugh, talk, and enjoy being together again.

Royce and Laurie Snyman will guide us through the Beatitudes and what they look like in the everyday life of a marriage: listening well, offering grace, working through difficult moments, and choosing to love each other with intention. Their hope is simple: to help couples take their marriages “from average to heavenly”—trusting in God’s grace and learning to share that grace with one another.

There will be honest conversation, practical help, time for questions, and plenty of room to reconnect. You don’t need to prepare anything or pretend to have it all together. Whether you were married last spring or forty years ago, you are welcome.

Come as you are, and come grow with us.

“We can’t wait to come and see you in Franktown.”
— Royce & Laurie Snyman

“A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

The Weekend

Schedule

Friday · 6:30 PM

Opening Evening

We’ll begin with the ideas that shape the entire weekend. Each session builds on this first conversation, so come Friday if you can—you’ll get much more from Saturday when you’ve been there from the beginning.

Sabbath · 11:15 AM

Worship Service

Royce and Laurie will share their own story: the ways God has led, sustained, and surprised them throughout their marriage. They’ll also tell about a later chapter in their life together that remains especially close to their hearts.

Sabbath · 2–5 PM

Afternoon Seminar

This is where the Beatitudes meet real married life: pride and apology, resentment and mercy, conflict and peacemaking—and the grace to keep choosing one another when the season is hard. Expect practical teaching, honest conversation, and plenty of time for your questions.

Your Hosts

Royce & Laurie Snyman

Royce and Laurie have been married nearly fifty years—and for much of that time, they’ve been helping other couples build stronger marriages, too.

They met at Pacific Union College and later made their home in Michigan. Royce served there as a pastor before leading ministerial work and evangelism for the Michigan Conference. He retired in 2021. Laurie is a licensed social worker who spent thirty-six years counseling couples and families, including twenty-five years in her own practice, Awakenings Family Therapy in Lansing.

Together, they have led marriage weekends at churches across Michigan and beyond, including their We Still Do series. They don’t speak as people who have marriage neatly figured out. They speak from nearly five decades of loving, learning, laughing, weathering hard seasons, and seeing God at work through it all.

Their approach is warm, honest, and refreshingly practical—less about lofty advice and more about what actually helps two people love each other well.
